Process for Receiving Care

Nana i Na Waʻa
Take a look at our services and see whether something connects with you. Get a feel for what we offer, and then move to the next step.

Mai hopohopo, you do not need to diagnose yourself or know exactly which service you want or need before reaching out.

Psychotherapy, Hoʻoponopono, GOLD, and consultation each have different purposes, boundaries, requirements, and agreements.
Hoʻomaka
Use the secure client portal to request a complimentary 15-minute telephone conversation.

At the scheduled time, we will talk story about your needs and preferences. If we are a good fit, we will discuss next steps, which commonly include an intake session for new Hoa Hoʻola.

If not, we can help explore referral options when appropriate and available.
He Pono?
We will review your request to better understand your needs, preferences, safety considerations, service fit, and any potential conflicts.

A complimentary consultation or inquiry does not establish a professional relationship.

An appointment may be offered once we determine that the requested service is available, appropriate, and within the scope of the Practice.
Hauhana
If we are a good fit and agree to move forward, you will receive the appropriate agreements, privacy and telehealth information, payment and cancellation terms, and any other required documents through the secure client portal.

Please review each item, ask any questions, and complete all required forms before attending your first paid service.

A Good Faith Estimate will also be provided when a paid service is scheduled or upon request.

We begin with an intake session to gain an understanding of what is happening and what you hope to receive from our work together.

We clarify goals, boundaries, expectations, preferences for services, and answer any questions you may have.

Once the intake is complete, we consider together whether ongoing services are appropriate. If we mutually agree to continue, our huakaʻi together fully begins.
Huakaʻi
Once ongoing services begin, we paddle together toward our established goals.

Along the way, we check in on progress, respond to changing needs, and adjust our sails when appropriate.

Manaʻo is always welcome; we are working together and we care about your opinion every step of the way.
He Ulua Kapapa
Our Huakaʻi together may finish when goals have been met, the work is no longer helpful or appropriate, or either party determines that it is time to stop.

Whenever possible, we will discuss the ending together, plan for a thoughtful transition, and explore referrals or other resources when appropriate and available.

And if it feels appropriate, we mark the ending of our journey together with a meaningful acknowledgment of the work completed.

Disclaimers

No recording or automated capture without written agreement

Please do not record, photograph, screenshot, livestream, transcribe, or add an AI meeting assistant or bot to a service without advance written agreement from the Practice and, when other participants are present, the required participant permissions. The controlling service agreement explains the rule and any exception.

Know the financial terms before the appointment

The exact fee will be provided before a paid service. Published fees are the total amount charged; Hawaiʻi GET is not added separately. The Practice is private pay and does not bill insurance directly. A superbill may be available for eligible psychotherapy, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.

The controlling cancellation and no-show terms are in your signed service agreement and Good Faith Estimate. At least 24 hours’ notice is required. A late cancellation or no-show may be charged up to the full reserved-service fee. The Practice may waive a fee at its discretion based on an emergency or other circumstances; a waiver is not guaranteed.

Appointments and response channels

Services are strictly by appointment only, with evening and weekend availability. Online setup through the secure client portal is the fastest way to begin.

Use the right channel

Use SimplePractice for therapy inquiries, forms, scheduling, secure messages, telehealth, and payments. Ordinary email is limited to general business and consultation inquiries and should not contain private health or detailed clinical information.

Messages are not monitored continuously and are not a substitute for a session or crisis service. The Practice responds as soon as reasonably possible during business operations but does not promise an immediate or fixed response time on the public website.
